Regional conflicts

Discipline Objective: To familiarize students with the peculiarities of regional conflicts in the modern world, to create an understanding of the causes, structure and dynamics of modern conflicts, as well as ways to resolve and prevent them. To give students a comprehensive understanding of the main theories of conflict in philosophy, psychology and sociology; scientific analysis of conflict; the peculiarities of the development of the world's regions after the Cold War and at the present stage, the relationship between these features and the causes of regional conflicts; the peacekeeping activities of the UN and regional organizations; the concepts of regional security and stability.
Discipline Objectives:
- characterize the essence, structure, typology, causes, functions, dynamics of conflict; essence, typology of ethno-national conflicts, history of specific interethnic conflicts in different regions of the world;
 - define the concepts: conflict, political conflict, regional conflict, conflict in international relations, asymmetric conflict, violence, war, ethno-confessional conflict, conflict resolution, international humanitarian law, war crime, security, national and regional security;
- reveal the main features of conflict prevention and resolution, negotiation strategies; the main provisions and principles of international humanitarian law; international and regional security systems.
