Theory and practice of intercultural communication

The course aims at systematic presentation of the main problem areas of intercultural communication, at mastering the basic concepts and terminology, as well as at developing cultural sensitivity, the ability to correctly interpret various manifestations of communicative behavior in different cultures. As a result of studying the course, students master the necessary amount of theoretical knowledge, get a clear idea of the importance of the theory of intercultural communication in the system of human sciences, the problems associated with understanding and perception of other cultures. Goals of teaching the discipline:
- formation of special professional competence on the basis of mastering theoretical and practical skills of intercultural and interpersonal communication;
- application of acquired skills in interlingual and intercultural communication;
- development of cultural sensitivity, the ability to correctly interpret specific manifestations of communicative behavior in different cultures;
- trace the formation and development of the concept of "culture", consider the peculiarities of the development of "intercultural communication" as a humanitarian direction.
 Objectives of teaching the discipline:
- To familiarize students with the history of the emergence and theoretical foundations of intercultural communication;
- master the basic concepts and terminology of the IAC;
- Study the models and structural components of the IAC;
- master the techniques of communicative behavior;
- get acquainted with the peculiarities of communicative behavior in different countries in various spheres of social life;
- master the methods of research on intercultural communication
